Our Story
The Founding Trio
In the summer of 2022, Natasha planted the seeds of Carolina Nets Netball Club, fueled by her passion and dreams of elevating netball in the USA. Utilizing a Facebook group as her canvas, Natasha's simple message ignited a remarkable journey, forming a community that would redefine local sports.
Enter Rachel and Lucy, spirited individuals who answered Natasha's call, joining forces to lay the foundation for Carolina Nets. United by a collective love for netball and a shared determination, this trio embarked on a mission to create something truly special.
Navigating Uncharted Territory
The early days were marked by the challenge of introducing netball to an American audience unfamiliar with its nuances. Convincing individuals to swap basketballs for netballs wasn't an easy task. However, with grit and determination, Carolina Nets began to gather a group of enthusiasts, turning skepticism into curiosity and curiosity into dedication.
Playing on outdoor basketball courts presented its own set of challenges. Each practice, before the first whistle blew, the dedicated founders could be found chalking court lines, transforming the space into a netball battlefield.
The turning point arrived with a pivotal partnership. NCCU, a beacon of support, opened its doors, allowing Carolina Nets to trade chalked lines for polished indoor courts. This transition was more than a logistical relief—it was a game-changer, propelling the club to new heights.
A Year and a Half of Growth
The inaugural session marked a humble gathering of six like-minded individuals, signaling the beginning of a journey that defied expectations. Weeks turned into months, dedication turned into skill, and Carolina Nets evolved from a small group of enthusiasts to a formidable force on the netball court.
Fast forward a year and a half, and the hard work paid off spectacularly. Carolina Nets Netball Club achieved a remarkable 2nd place at the US Open Netball Championships, proving that the journey was not just about victories on the court, but also about friendships forged and challenges overcome.
Venturing beyond local arenas, Carolina Nets showcased its prowess nationally and internationally. From Washington, DC, to Santa Monica's sun-soaked beaches, and even the dazzling courts of Dubai, our diverse and talented players represented the club with pride, embracing each competition as an opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with the global netball community.
Beyond the Court
Off the court, Carolina Nets is more than just a sports club—it's a family that knows how to have a good time. Regular socials, from bonfires under the Carolina night sky to sizzling BBQs, form the heartbeat of our community. Laughter and camaraderie extend to trivia nights, where our competitive spirits shine in a different arena.
